When I leave college I want to be...

Freedom of Expression

The College will endeavour to ensure freedom of expression (religious, political or otherwise) for its students but only within the law and the College's code of conduct on freedom of speech. Under the College's code of conduct, freedom of expression is allowed to the extent that the views expressed and the manner of their expression:

  • Occur in accordance with the regulations of the College
  • Are not likely to be intimidating to other students, staff and members of the public
  • Are not likely to promote prejudice or discrimination against other beliefs, faiths, cultures, or any other category of person covered by the College's policy statement on equality of opportunity
  • Are not likely to result in, or give rise to, provocation or harassment of any student, member of staff, or member of the public
  • Are not likely to constitute unwelcome attempts to convert any person to a particular religious faith or other ideological view
  • Are not likely to affect the normal practices of the College, the health, safety and welfare of those within it, or the secular ethos of the College
  • It is important to recognise that this will on occasions result in the College preventing the expression of certain views within its environment because they are considered to breach the conditions set out above
