When I leave college I want to be...

Community Partnerships

The College has extensive links with the local community, from partnerships with charities and support groups that aim to help people back into employment to offering an open access policy that encourages people of all ages to apply for courses to improve skills or simply for enjoyment of spare time.

Regeneration Projects

Newham College is committed to social and economic regeneration in the borough of Newham and this drives the development of training and learning opportunities offered by the College.

The College is also the largest provider of nursery places in the area, enabling many who have young children to take advantage of the free places offered to the children of college students.

The College works closely with the local community to identify ways to help build social opportunity, for example helping the Asian fashion sector to find new ways to develop market share, securing local employment and developing recruitment strategies with the NHS and learning support for those who want to be part of the care industries and need to develop their skills.

Industry Initiatives

The College is highly regarded as a leader in identifying skills gaps within industry sectors and has achieved CoVE status in four sectors as recognition of its work in this area. These include extensive work with sector skills councils and grass roots industry support to make sure that any work undertaken for industry sectors directly impacts in a positive way on the economy of the local area.
