The main emphasis of the course is to learn about working safely in motor vehicle engineering while developing your skills in using hand tools, machine tools, communication and team working. The course has been designed around practical application where you will be learning the skills needed to work or continue your studies in motor vehicle engineering. The assessment work you produce throughout the year will build into a portfolio of evidence for your Diploma alongside the online multi choice question assessments.
During each of the six-week blocks you will undertake and complete assessments relating to the units you have been learning. Further details of theses assessments will be given to you by your teacher.
Methods of study will include individual, pair and group work and homework tasks. The course will make full use of the College's innovative VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) which is an on-line resource that can be accessed from any computer attached to the Internet. You will find your course learning materials and work tasks on the VLE.
Once you have successfully completed this level 3 course then your future options are to progress onto the IMIA Certificate in Advanced Automotive Studies for Master Technicians, or use your skills and knowledge to begin your working career in a garage or workshop.
