What is involved?

This is an opportunity for learners who unsure of their career pathway to start on the route to becoming a Hairdresser or Beauty Therapist, experiencing and carrying out hairdressing and beauty services. You will then, after a successful skills test, be able to progress onto a level 2 Hairdressing or Beauty related programme.
If you wish to gain valuable insight into the Hair and Beauty industry then this is the course for you. You will develop basic skills and relevant industry knowledge, through experiential learning of selected techniques and products.
This course is designed for individuals who wish to achieve the basic skills required for progression in the hairdressing or beauty industry from junior level. It will ensure you are on the right path in developing sufficient communication and occupational skills for progression onto a level 2 hairdressing or beauty related programme.
At the next level you will develop skills such as blow-drying, styling, dressing long hair, doing hair treatments, Facials, make-up, manicure, pedicure and team work. Students who wish to develop their literacy skills will also benefit, as this subject will be embedded within the vocational course.
You'll be taught by our highly skilled team of professional Hairdressing and Beauty staff in specialist classrooms at east ham campus. During the course you will produce a portfolio of evidence containing both practical and theory work. Enrichment Activities A range of Enrichment activities are incorporated within the programme. Examples of Enrichment activities conducted are lectures by guest speakers from leading stylists and salon managers
Visits to various industry leaders, trade events or seminars. You will have an opportunity to participate in internal and external events where you will be able to show case your skills I-Learning Sessions
This is additional time embedded in your programme for your study to promote independent learning. This time is used to work through assignments, complete homework activities and conduct wider reading and research.

Personal Learning Plan Sessions
A course tutor will be allocated to you on the programme. Your course tutor will be working with you to set realistic targets that will enable you to achieve your goals. Your targets will be monitored weekly by your tutor and yourself and actions plans and support put in place to assist you in achieving your targets


What will my career options be?

This is an opportunity for learners to start on the route to becoming a Hairdresser or Beauty therapist. When successfully completing your course you will be able to progress onto a Level 2 Hairdressing, Level 2 Babering, Level 2 Beauty therapy or Level 2 Hair and Media make-up

What is the cost?

The Home fee is £1950 (Plus £125 Exam Fee).

What do I need?

You will be given an initial assessment to ensure that you have basic writing and reading skills in English.
You will also need to have good communication skills, a friendly and pleasant personality- as well as good levels of personal presentation. In addition, you should be willing to work to deadlines.
