This course investigates the application of science through practical activities from which the theory is then drawn. This provides opportunities for you to develop your practical laboratory skills to a high level.
There are laboratory-based practical assignments, supported by self-study, presentations, group work and discussion.
You will be externally examined on 2 units during the first year and another 2 units during the second year.
Higher Education or employment. The course prepares you for university and a range of higher education courses and jobs including: Radiography, Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Psychology, Genetics, Veterinary Science, Biochemistry and Forensic science.

You will need 4 GCSE grades A-C, including science or a BTEC First Diploma in Applied Science (Merit or Distinction). Students without a GCSE in English or Maths will be expected to add a GCSE to their programme
