What is involved?

Sport and Active Leisure Level 1 Certificate consists of 4 units which cover a range of How the Body Work, Planning Own Fitness, Taking Part in Sport and Assisting a Leader of Sports or Active Leisure Activities to Plan and Deliver an Activity. This qualification supports learners with progression on to a L2 programme.

West Ham United Football Learning Academy
Opportunity to be chosen for a one off prestigious opportunity to join the Newham College & West Ham United Football Learning Academy. Functional Skills
You will be studying Functional Skills (Maths and English) as part of your course to enable you to progress onto Level-1 qualifications.

Work Experience opportunity
As part of the programme you will conduct a two week work placement in a Sport or Fitness environment. This will allow you to apply your theoretical knowledge into a practical work setting. Assignments will also be completed in relation to your work placement.

Volunteer Hours You will have the opportunity to complete 30 hours working with the college sport enrichment team in supporting sport events, weekly sport and exercise enrichment sessions and supporting activities in the fitness suite.
> Enrichment Activities
A range of Enrichment activities are incorporated within the programme. Examples of Enrichment activities conducted are sport activities, workshops, outings and debates. There is also the opportunity to request other enrichment activities that you have an interest in.

I - Learning Sessions This is additional time embedded in your programme for independent study. This time is used to work through assignments, complete homework activities and conduct wider reading and research to assist learning.

Support Tutorials Group and one to one tutorials are set up on the programme to further assist you with successfully completing the course. Support tutorials are at flexible times to meet your needs. This could occur during the daytime and evenings.

Personal Learning Plan Sessions A course tutor will be allocated to you on the programme. Your course tutor will be working with you to set realistic targets that will enable you to achieve. Your targets will be monitored weekly by your tutor and yourself.

What is the cost?

The Home fee is £700 (Plus £50 Exam Fee).
This Course is Free for 16-18 Home Students.
