Investors in Diversity
Diversity is a standard that enables the College to develop behaviours and practices which will further promote inclusion, equality, diversity and achievement. Newham College originally achieved the Investors in Diversity accreditation at level two in April 2012. In February 2015 it was re-assessed and was re-accredited at level two.
The College is particularly delighted in retaining the accreditation and continues to improve. The College continues to develop its organisational culture that truly promotes and values diversity and in order to achieve the standards, everyone has a part to play.
The College continues to make a large investment in raising the awareness of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, not just relating to our learners but in the entirety of our business. There is clear business case to the College in being exemplary in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion including:
• Good service to Customers, Learners and External Stakeholders
• Reduced Staff Turnover
• Safe and Harmonious environment
• Retention of Learners
• Inclusive Teaching and Learning
• Meeting cultural requirements
• Strong links with the local Community
• Open Access policy
• Legal and Policy Awareness
We will be measured on our practices and to demonstrate our commitment in raising awareness and maintaining Equality, Diversity and Inclusion between staff, learners and external stakeholders. We want to ensure we are inclusive in everything we do and do not want to leave anyone out when we make decisions about the business and how it operates.
