When I leave college I want to be...

Facilities & resources

We have an exceptional range of facilities and resources that will assist you in your learning and assessments, including:

  • The Flex: Based on our East Ham and Stratford campuses, the Flex provides a day time and evening drop-in library service to our students and staff for 90 hours a week, offering books and periodicals, audio-visual resources including DVDs, CDs and CD-Roms, and access to online resources such as e-books and e-journals. Our presence on NewLearning, the College’s virtual learning environment, enables access to e-resourcing at any time of day via the internet. It includes more than 4000 peer review full-text journals and over 280,000 e-books. A computer catalogue will also enable you to check the location and availability of resources, and manage your Flex account online.  In addition to PCs with internet connection which are available to help learners research and complete assignments, study areas are also available allowing silent, quiet and group study. Along with wheelchair access and low-level shelving we also provide specialist equipment and software to support learners with disabilities. Staff are always on hand to both help students find the resources required for assignments and also to provide support when using our centres’ computers.

Here you will find online material such us lectures, module guides, additional readings, videos and self-assessment tasks. Learners have the opportunity to create their own E-portfolio and Personal Development Plan, which may enhance employability and learning.

The centre consists of two laboratories, both with computer facilities and research software, and an observation room with video recording technology. In addition, small laboratories/small practice cubicles can be used to carry out observations and practice sessions.
