Big Bang London East

Newham College hosted the Big Bang London East event on Tuesday 30th June. On the day, over 2,000 students and school pupils from east London and surrounding areas took part in a programme of activities that excite young people about science, technology, engineering and maths.

Leadership Community Project

The Leadership through Sport & Business charity, West Ham United Football Foundation and Newham College have launched a new initiative for ambitious College applicants. This unique training programme will give local young people an exclusive opportunity to develop leadership skills whilst potentially earning at least £100 per week.

Newham College cricketer Zeeshan Khan played in an all-star match with top professionals at Essex County’s Chelmsford ground earlier this month. He was picked to represent Essex as a substitute fielder in a game between Essex County Cricket Club and Ravi’s All Stars XI.

Newham College Business Students to Redesign Café Football Sweet Shop

Newham College business students have been picked to re-design the Café Football sweet shop, at Westfield Stratford City. They received the opportunity to manage this project after pitching their ideas to a panel of professionals at the Café Football headquarters near Baker Street. The students were among three groups of ambitious young people, who faced a Dragons’ Den style selection process for the job.

Newham College wins €500,000 bid to give 200 students European Work Experience

Newham College London has been awarded a contract enabling 240 students to participate in the Erasmus+ Euro Train project. The project will see Newham College work with partners from Hungary, France and Spain over the next 2 years to support students from the London Borough of Newham to participate in European work placements.

Newham College Team wins Cricket League

The Newham College cricket team has won the London Further Education Indoor Cricket League. This win follows many others as the team remained unbeaten throughout the entire season. This is the first time any FE team has retained the London FE Indoor league. They have also won the Indoor 24 cricket regional final and will go on to represent London at the national final in Edgbaston on 22nd April.
