Staff Training & DevelopmentWe have some of the best teaching and non-teaching staff in Further Education and strive to maintain high standards to support ongoing skills development helping all our staff to reach the top of their careers. The pages on developing your skills give an overview of some of the in-house training courses available to all staff at the college and we have a team of Professional Learning Advisors who support staff to share good practice, and advise on the next steps for individual professional skill development. Gaining teacher qualified status for staff members is also detailed in this section of the website. Institute for Learning Membership The Institute for Learning (IfL) is the professional body for teachers, trainers, tutors and trainee teachers (hereafter referred to as ‘teachers’) in the further education and skills sector, with responsibility for the registration and regulation of licensed practitioners through Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status. As part of the College’s contract you will be required to register with the IfL if you have not already done so. You can apply for membership using the following link www.ifl.ac.uk and select ‘membership’. In order to maintain your license to practice you would be required to complete a minimum amount of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours, these must be recorded and then submitted to the IfL (further information will be provided upon employment). For the maximum impact on practice IfL believes that the minimum requirement of 30 hours of CPD per year for full-time teachers and trainers (and a pro-rata equivalent for those who work part-time, with a minimum number of 6 hours). ![]() ![]() ![]() |
