What is the Diploma Worth?
The Engineering Diploma is offered at three Levels at Newham College:

• Foundation Diploma equivalent to 5 GSCE grades D-G
• Higher Diploma equivalent to 7 GCSE grades A*-C
• Advanced Diploma equivalent to 3.5 A Level grades A*-E

Experience Everything Engineering

During the diploma you will learn:

• The engineering world: looks at the importance of engineering in the modern world.
• Discovering engineering technology: introduces basic engineering principles such as design and electronic systems.
• Engineering the future: looks at what makes innovations succeed and how to develop and launch new ideas.

On the course you will:

• Learn what’s involved, from design and electronics to materials.
• Find out how to sketch ideas into diagrams, then turn them into 3D models and scaled diagrams.
• See how engineering is used all around you.

The Mixing Desk
You will take compulsory units which will develop your understanding and knowledge of the subject. You must also complete courses in English, Maths and ICT. An optional
course will make up the rest of your Diploma. For your optional courses, you can choose a specialist course which will extend your knowledge of your Diploma or a completely
different subject.

What Could This Diploma Lead To?
The Diploma will give you the skills you need for either university or work.

It could lead you to a university degree in aeronautical engineering, automotive engineering, building services engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering or biomedical materials science.

You might choose to use the skills you have learnt in this diploma to go into a different area of study or employment sector.
