Getting paid while you learn might sound too good to be true - but as an Apprentice that's exactly the deal. You can gain the hands-on experience of working and combine it with a course of academic study that leads to really worthwhile qualifications - plus you get wages into the bargain!

The ApprenticeshipThe programmes take up to 4 years to complete during which time you'll have a job and a wage. The Apprenticeship Leads to NVQ Level 2, Key Skills and possibly a Technical Certificate. The work is mainly practical, so you'll develop technical skills and gain valuable work experience. There is also the opportunity to progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship.
Your employer pays your wages and gives you the on-the-job-training, which allows you to achieve your NVQ. You'll also spend time at College, gaining functional skills that'll be useful and valuable in the job market - working effectively as part of a team, solving problems, communicating clearly and using new technology. In addition we'll also help you study for a Technical Certificate, if required, which will give you further knowledge and understanding of your job. You're guaranteed a basic wage. However, you could get more, depending on your employer. You also get at least 1.5 days of paid holiday for every month of your training. On top of that you'll also get bank holidays.
