Trainee Site Manager to shadow our current Site Managers. To undertake the general running of a construction site which will include understanding specification, plans and drawings. Value engineering the works. Understanding cost implications, Health and Safety and ensuring the project is completed on time.
About this role
Emerson Willis are seeking a motivated Trainee Site Supervisor to join our team and learn from experienced Site Managers. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in overseeing construction sites and developing essential skills in project management.
- Shadowing Site Managers: Work closely with seasoned professionals to understand the nuances of site management, learning from their expertise and guidance.
- General Site Operations: Take an active role in the day to day running of construction sites, including interpreting specifications, plans and drawings.
- Value Engineering: Contribute ideas and strategies for optimising project efficiency without compromising quality, ensure cost effectiveness and innovative problem solving.
- Cost Management: Gain insight into the financial aspects of construction projects, learning to assess cost implications and manage resources effectively.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Prioritise and uphold stringent safety protocols, ensuring a secure working environment for all team members and subcontractors.
- Project Timeline Management: Assist in coordinating activities to ensure timely completion of projects, developing skills in scheduling and project deadline adherence.
- Eagerness to learn and develop skills in construction management.
- Basic understanding of construction principles, plans and specifications (prior experience is a plus but not required)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Dedication to upholding safety standards and promoting a culture of safety on site.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and an eye for detail.
This apprenticeship is delivered as a day release.

Requirements and Prospectus
You will already have grade C / 4 and above in both Maths and English.
- Good Spoken English
- Confident Communicator both face to face and over the telephone.
- Strong Healthy work attitude, with an appetite for learning.
- Good written English
- Good computer skills
- Ability to understand and picture construction drawings for both measurement purposes and communication of the proposed construction to others. AutoCAD skills would be an advantage but not essential.
- Politeness is essential.
DIFFICULTIES GETTING TO SITE WITHOUT OWN TRANSPORT. WORKING OUTSIDE IN ALL WEATHERS.
