ICT Technician Apprenticeship

The apprentice will work as part of the ICT Support Team to provide support to all staff, students, and parents as necessary. The role is based in the IT Department and will cover a wide variety of tasks, working with PCs, tablets, laptops, and a centralised printing system, whilst developing the skills needed to achieve a qualification.

About this role

  • To assist with the checking and maintenance of the school’s ICT resource for safe, effective use by students and staff;
  • To support staff and student use of ICT within the classroom, and remotely when required;
  • To assist with the maintenance of user accounts in a Microsoft Active Directory environment;
  • Maintenance of desktop PCs and laptops, including building, configuring, updating, and deploying hardware to users;
  • Assist with the maintenance and support of centralised printing system;
  • To work with the ICT team to ensure that IT and acceptable use policies are adhered to;
  • Liaising with suppliers and external providers, as directed by the ICT Network Manager or a member of the Senior Leadership Team;
  • Troubleshooting PC, wired and wireless LAN problems;
  • Troubleshooting and configuration of AV equipment including projectors and speakers;
  • To work with the team to deploy new software applications and updates to existing software packages;
  • To assist with the accurate documentation of systems and assets;
  • To assist the ICT helpdesk, escalating support calls to the ICT Network Manager / Assistant ICT Network Manager in a timely fashion to ensure effective and efficient service desk call resolution

Training provided

  • Training will be given on bespoke software applications

Entry requirements

  • English and Maths GCSE qualification or equivalent
