Are you aged over 19? Do you have an interest in studying health and social care or social and community work?
If you want to go to university to study health and social care, nursing or social and community work at degree level but don’t have the qualifications you need, this course will enable you to develop the skills and knowledge that are required for Higher Education.
This course is a level 3 course and is equivalent to three A-levels.
What is involved?
On this course you will develop your knowledge and understanding of health care, social care and community work.
You will study a range of relevant subjects, including: care principles, healthcare, mental health and illness, safeguarding, inclusivity and disability, dementia awareness, social drugs and medicines and social work skills.
In addition to this you will develop the skills that are required for success in higher education. You will also receive advice and guidance while completing your UCAS application to study at university.
You will be continually assessed throughout the year using a variety of assessment methods.
The majority of students that successfully complete the course will progress on to a university degree programme, with a focus on either nursing, social care, community work or a related field. Other options include progression to a Foundation Degree.
The main focus of Access programmes is to prepare learners for study at university, however some may decide to go into employment.
On completion of your course you will receive a profile of credits that will reflect your suitability for your chosen degree programme.
