Is the Course for me?

This course is for current or aspiring higher education students who need to develop oral and written communication and study skills for successful academic study in English. This course is most suited for those who wish to be successful in academic careers. The minimum entry requirement is a level 2 in English.

What is involved?

You will learn in a variety of ways. There will be group discussions, presentations, independent study, online forums/postings and written assignments. You will practise academic reading, writing, listening and speaking, and receive feedback on a presentation and a written assignment you have produced. You will also have the opportunity to learn and develop exam strategies. By the end of the course you will be able to: Develop, present and refute arguments with suitable evidence to produce an essay or presentation Synthesize ideas from a variety of texts and formats into a cohesive written or oral piece of work Your teacher will mark your work and give feedback. Your teacher will also monitor your progress and discuss methods to meet your learning needs and for achieving your course aims.

Course Requirements

Once we have received your application you will be given a date for an assessment workshop. All applicants must attend the workshop and sit an initial assessment test.
