What is involved?

This programme is a good introduction to a career in hospitality and catering. Students will find out about the kinds of jobs involved in the industry, develop practical skills and investigate the materials, ingredients and equipment used in the industry. Students will gain knowledge and expertise including how to prepare, cook and finish various basic dishes with the emphasis being on cooking methods, how to maintain the health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment, how to maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food as well as customer service. All equipment, materials and ingredients are provided, but you will need to buy a knife set and protective clothing. Enrichment Activities
A range of Enrichment activities are incorporated within the programme with visits by guest speakers from multinational hospitality chains and experienced chefs. You will have an opportunity to participate in internal and external events where you will be able to show case your skills. I-Learning Sessions
This is additional time embedded in your programme for your study to promote independent learning. This time is used to work through assignments, complete homework activities and conduct wider reading and research.
Personal Learning Plan Sessions
A course tutor will be allocated to you on the programme. Your course tutor will be working with you to set realistic targets that will enable you to achieve your goals. Your targets will be monitored weekly by your tutor and yourself and actions plans and support put in place to assist you in achieving your targets

    Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery or Level 2 Hospitality Services

    Course Requirements

    You should have minimum of 2 GCSEs grade E or above, or have successfully completed an Entry Level qualification
