Is the Course for me?

If you didn't get the results you hoped for at English GCSE and want to progress your studies, we offer a very successful English Evening GCSE re-sit programme. This programme provides a very sound base to progress onto further academic study, or to help gain employment. This programme is open to any student within the college who require GCSE English to progress in their studies. You must be registered on a Newham College course at Level 2 or Level 3 in order to enrol for this particular programme.

What is involved?

In the English GSCE you will study how to communicate your ideas clearly - whatever you are writing. You will develop your reading and writing skills through a variety of tasks, learning exactly what you need to. You will learn more English but you will also learn exactly what you need in order to succeed. Independent study sessions are run alongside your more formal work and, in your free time, you can use our extensive library, computer and multi-media facilities and join in a wide range of social activities. You may also be eligible for support with your studies if you have a learning difficulty or disability. This support is free to UK residents.

Progression

This is a recognised qualification that will enable you to continue your education on to more advanced programmes, or could help you gain employment.

Course Requirements

You must be registered on a Newham College course at Level 2 or Level 3 in order to enrol for this particular programme. You also need:

  • 5 GCSE passes at grade D or above in Maths (or Key Skills in applied communications at level 1)
  • or equivalent international qualifications - our knowledgeable team of course consultants can advise on these You will be invited to the College for an interview to make sure this is the course you need.
