Is the Course for me?
This course will enable you to obtain a level two qualification in fitness.
This course will provide you with the opportunities in knowledge and skills in the fitness sector and to facilitate progression onto a Level-3 course, apprentice and/or employment.
What is involved?
The YMCA Fitness Instructing Certificate consists of 6 units: Practical, theory and desk based units. During the course you will study a range of health and fitness units to gain knowledge in a variety of components.
You will have the opportunity to complete 30 hours working with the college sport enrichment team in supporting sport events, weekly sport and exercise enrichment sessions and supporting activities in the fitness suite.
A range of Enrichment activities are incorporated within the programme. Examples of Enrichment activities conducted are sport activities, workshops, outings and debates. There is also the opportunity to request other enrichment activities that you have an interest in.
I - Learning Sessions
This is additional time embedded in your programme for independent study. This time is used to work through assignments, complete homework activities and conduct wider reading and research to assist learning.
Group and one to one tutorials are set up on the programme to further assist you with successfully completing the course. Support tutorials are at flexible times to meet your needs. This could occur during the daytime and evenings.
