T Level in Healthcare Science - September 2024
This two-year qualification in healthcare science has been developed in consultation with employers in the industry to ensure that you will develop the core knowledge and practical skills needed to work with healthcare professionals in a range of healthcare occupations, including working in laboratory services.
The course will include core and specialist content, developing a general understanding of various topics including:
- Working within the health and science sector
- Health, safety and environmental regulations
- Managing information and data
- Principles of good scientific and clinical practice
- Core science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics, microbiology and immunology
In addition to the core content, you will pursue a required occupational specialism in Assisting Healthcare.
Students will complete 315 hours of industry placement within a real workplace setting and be able to apply the knowledge and skills that employers are looking for.
There will be a mixture of assignments, projects and exams. Two exams will take place at the end of the first year to test your knowledge and learning.

An interview with a teacher and a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C (including Science, English, and maths) or a relevant Level 2 qualification.
How much will this course cost?
This course is free for students aged 16-18.
