Are you aged over 19? Do you have an interest in studying health science? If you want to go to university to study health science or a related subject at degree level but don’t have the qualifications you need, this course will enable you to develop the skills and knowledge that are required for Higher Education.
This course is a level 3 course and is equivalent to three A-levels.
On this course, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the health sciences. You will study a range of relevant subjects, including practical chemical science for health studies, chemistry, cells and tissues, physiology, physics, nutrition and digestion.
In addition to this, you will develop the skills that are required for success in higher education. You will also receive advice and guidance while completing your UCAS application to study at university.
You will be continually assessed throughout the year using a variety of assessment methods.
You must be at least 19 years old at the beginning of this course and hold a minimum of level 2 qualifications in both English and Mathematics.
However, if you have already achieved a level 2 qualification in one of these subjects, you will have the option to gain a level 2 qualification in GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths where applicable.
The majority of students that successfully complete the course will progress on to a university degree programme, with a focus on a health science or a related field.
Other options include progression to a Foundation Degree. The main focus of Access programmes is to prepare learners to study at university. However, some may decide to go into employment.
On completion of your course, you will receive a profile of credits that will reflect your suitability for your chosen degree programme.
If you are aged 19+, how much you pay for your course and any additional costs will depend on a number of factors. Learn more about course fees and finances.
