Are you aged over 19? Do you have an interest in studying accountancy, finance and banking?
If you want to go to university to study accountancy, finance and banking at degree level but don’t have the qualifications you need, this course will enable you to develop the skills and knowledge that are required for Higher Education.
This course is a level 3 course and is equivalent to three A-levels.
Accountancy involves measuring and processing the financial information of an organisation’s economic activities and then conveying this to a variety of stakeholders.
On this course, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of accountancy, finance and banking. You will study a range of relevant subjects, including computerised accounts, finance in the global economy, management accounting, economics, trade, e-commerce and banking.
In addition to this, you will develop the skills that are required for success in higher education. You will also receive advice and guidance while completing your UCAS application to study at university.
The course is taught in a variety of ways, including, assignments and group work. You will be continually assessed throughout the year.
You must be at least 19 years old in order to apply for this course.
It would be beneficial to have level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics. However, you will be provided with an opportunity to gain a level 2 qualification in GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths.
If you do not have formal qualifications for entry, you will need to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm to study at level 3, as well as demonstrating level 2 abilities in communications and numeracy.
The majority of students that successfully complete the course will progress on to a university degree programme, with a focus on accountancy, finance and banking or a related field. Other options include progression to a Foundation Degree.
The main focus of Access programmes is to prepare learners to study at university. However, some may decide to go into employment.
On completion of your course, you will receive a profile of credits that will reflect your suitability for your chosen degree programme in accountancy, finance and banking.
