If you would like a career in the hospitality and catering industry but are not quite sure which route to choose, this course will teach you basic skills and give you an overview of the industry to enable you to decide which area you want to specialise in. You will also learn how to maintain the health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment.

As part of the course, you will need to attend ESOL classes.

Course description

With an emphasis on doing, you will learn lots of practical skills required for the hospitality industry. This course is ideal if you are looking for a career in the hospitality industry and will cover:

  • Customer service
  • Serving food and drink
  • Healthy eating
  • Using kitchen equipment
  • Basic food preparation

As part of this qualification, you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt.

Entry requirements

You do not need to have prior knowledge or experience of the industry but you must be keen to get your career started. You will be required to attend ESOL classes.

You will need to be successful in an initial interview to assess your suitability for the course and have a written and oral assessment at the start of the course.

Progression

You will be able to progress onto the Level 1 Hospitality Certificate.

Fees and funding

The course fee for adults (19+) is £543 plus exam fee £75.
