The rising demand for British-made goods is creating huge opportunities for employment and growth. East London is home to 23% of London’s fashion enterprises and is driving growth of the city’s fashion design, retail and manufacturing industry.
Fashion & Tailoring can lead to a career in garment production, technical innovation or consumer analytics and leadership. Jobs range from pattern cutting, fashion design, garment manufacture to merchandising, buying and supply chain management. To date, 100% of learners who apply have been offered university places.
Amongside opportunities for practical work experience, which includes a two-week placement, you will also benefit from our close links with the sector.
We run and own the Fashion and Textile Museum, a world-renowned exhibition and training centre founded by British designer Dame Zandra Rhodes.
We are also partnered with Fashion District – a cluster of ambitious businesses, academic institutions and investors driving fashion innovation in east London.
To date, more than 50 Newham College tailoring students have gained employment on Savile Row.
Newham College works in partnership with London College of Fashion, UAL to deliver a Fashion Production training programme in the brand new ‘Making for Change’ studio at Poplar Works.
This training provides students with an understanding and knowledge of garment construction techniques, used in the industry to build confidence, skills and professional experience.Learn more about Making for Change
