This is an evening course designed for learners who would like to learn how to make garments but best suited to study in the evening due to work or other commitments. You might be a beginner of have previous experience and want to brush up on your skills.

This is a qualification course and criteria will be covered within the activities you will be given to do, we expect a commitment to cover the criteria in order for you to gain your qualification.

Course description

The course will teach you how to use a variety of industrial machines inclusive of flatbeds and overlockers and you will be shown a variety of techniques and processes in garment construction.

You will use bought patterns to utilise to make your own choice of garments which can include traditional dress as well as fashion items.

Learners are also shown how to adapt bought patterns to fit better based on the measurements of whom the garment is being made for.

Entry requirements

You don't have to have any prior knowledge of fashion but an Entry Lou will need to have at least an Entry Level 3 qualification in English.


You will gain skills that will enable you to sew and make simple items.

Fees and funding

The course fee is £150 plus £30 exam fee.
