If you want to embark on a career in fashion it is vital to learn the skills necessary and to develop your skills and knowledge of the subject.

This course is for those who have studied Level 1 in art and design and or fashion or have the equivalent skills.

Course content

This course is designed to prepare you for BTEC Level 3 Art and Fashion design course.

The Intermediate Creative Studies course will further develop your skills at an intermediate level in design, presentation, textiles as well as garment making and pattern cutting.

You will learn about other artists and designers both historical and contemporary through research and museum and exhibition visits, and build sketchbook and portfolio presentations through assignments and classroom taught techniques and tasks.

Learners are also given the opportunity to enter competitions as they arise to further support the development of skills and knowledge as well as supporting progression.

  • Recognising and applying visual language and formal elements

Qualifications on completion

  • BTEC Diploma in Art and Design Skills

Entry requirements

A level 1 qualification in art and design or equivalent skills and knowledge and a Level 1 qualification in English and Maths.


You can progress onto a Level 3 foundation diploma or an apprenticeship.

Fees and funding

This course is free for students aged 16-18. Course fees for adults (19+) are £993 with exam fees of £105.
