This 18-week course is designed for anyone who is interested in the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry; it will cover a range of hairdressing and beauty skills to provide a range of employment possibilities in a salon and progression opportunities.

This is an opportunity for learners to start on the route to becoming a Hairdresser or Beauty Therapist, experiencing and carrying out hairdressing and beauty services within our well-equipped salons. You will then, after a successful skills test, be able to progress onto a Level 2 Hairdressing or Beauty related programme.

Course description

This is an opportunity for learners who unsure of their career pathway, start on the route to becoming a Hairdresser or Beauty Therapist, experiencing and carrying out hairdressing and beauty services. You will then, after a successful skills test, be able to progress onto a Level 2 Hairdressing or Beauty related programme.

If you wish to gain valuable insight into the Hair and Beauty industry, then this is the course for you. You will develop basic skills and relevant industry knowledge, through experiential learning of selected techniques and products.

This course is designed for individuals who wish to achieve the basic skills required for progression in the hairdressing or beauty industry from junior level. It will ensure you are on the right path in developing sufficient communication and occupational skills for progression onto a level 2 hairdressing or beauty related programme.

At the next level, you will develop skills such as blow-drying, styling, dressing long hair, doing hair treatments, Facials, make-up, manicure, pedicure and teamwork. Students who wish to develop their literacy skills will also benefit, as this subject will be embedded within the vocational course.

You'll be taught by our highly skilled team of professional Hairdressing and Beauty staff in specialist classrooms at East Ham campus. During the course, you will produce a portfolio of evidence containing both practical and theory work.

Additional information

Entry requirements

You will be given an initial assessment to ensure that you have basic writing and reading skills in English. You will also need to have good communication skills, a friendly and pleasant personality - as well as good levels of personal presentation. In addition, you should be willing to work to deadlines.

Progression

This is an opportunity for learners to start on the route to becoming a Hairdresser or beauty therapist.

When successfully completing your course, you will be able to progress onto a Level 2 Hairdressing, Level 2 Barbering, Level 2 Beauty Therapy or Level 2 Hair and Media make-up.

Fees and funding

The course fee is £993 (plus exam fee 75).
