Are you over 19? Do you want to study at degree level, especially in a science related field, but you don’t have the qualifications you need. If yes, then this course will enable you to build up the skills and knowledge you need to progress to an Access to Higher Education qualification and ultimately to university.
You will take core science units including Scientific Principles and Science and the World at Work. You will also take a range of specialist units which may include Forensic Science Applications, Anatomy and Physiology and Chemistry Applications.
As well as your theory lessons, there will be plenty of practical work to develop your experimental skills. You will also learn some of the study skills you’ll need to succeed in university. The course is taught in a variety of ways, including practical sessions, assignments and group work, and you will be continually assessed throughout the year.
Outside of class time you can use our extensive library, computer and multi-media facilities and join in a wide range of social activities. You may also be eligible for support with your studies if you have a learning difficulty or disability.
Learners will need to undertake an interview with a course tutor to demonstrate their interest and background.
You will also need to have a full Level 1 qualification or demonstrate English and Maths at Level 1 through Initial Testing.
This nationally recognised qualification which will enable you to progress to a one year Access to Higher Education course in Health Science.
The course fee is £362 plus £150 exam fee.
