This course is an ideal introduction to working within the Motor Vehicle industry. This is both a practical and theory-based course. The aim of the qualification is to give students the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop a range of practical skills relevant to the Motor Vehicle Industry.
The course is delivered during the day and focuses on various aspects of motor vehicle technology and the maintenance of the main parts, such as driveline, spark ignition systems and vehicle construction.
Maths and English are key elements of any full-time programme of study in College.
Learning on this course whether classroom or workshop-based is through activity. In the workshop, demonstrations will be provided to introduce skills, but learning will be through hands-on activity.
You will be assessed on your practical skills and your knowledge through the completion of practical assignments and assessments.
There are no formal qualifications required, but you will be assessed during induction to ensure that the course you have chosen is at a level appropriate to your needs. You will also need to show a genuine desire and enthusiasm for studying to be a motor mechanic.
Providing you fulfil all of the course requirements, you may be able to progress onto a Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance.
