The Sector-Based Work Academy Programme (SWAPs) is an opportunity to learn new skills and get experience of working in a particular sector. The programme will help you to build confidence, improve your job prospects and enhance your CV.
Each course involves employability and sector-specific training, work shadowing and experience, and the opportunity to gain a guaranteed interview with an employer.
Each programme includes a sector-specific course as well as employability and bespoke training designed with an employer to provide important skill-specific training and job opportunities to people who are unemployed and claiming benefits. SWAPs are available in a range of sectors including hospitality, customer service, business administration, and construction, and respond to identified job vacancies.
Sector Based Work Academies run for up to 4 weeks.
These courses are only available if you are aged 19+, unemployed, have the right to live and work in the UK, and live within a London borough. You will undergo an initial assessment to determine the best course for you based on your prior qualifications.
The programme is designed to help you to improve your job prospects as each SWAP is linked to a genuine job vacancy. Whilst getting a job is not guaranteed, this course will give you valuable interview experience and help to improve your chances of gaining employment.
If you are aged 19+, how much you pay for your course and any additional costs will depend on a number of factors. Learn more about course fees and finances.
