Our public services study programme is designed to maximise opportunities for learners to progress by focusing on the development of transferable sector-related skills within Policing, Law Enforcement & Security, Armed Forces Careers, Intelligence Services, Navy, Fire, Paramedic, Prison Service, Coastguard and the RAF.

  • Assisting Members of the Public
  • Contributing to your Community

Course description

This course will focus on critical thinking, solving problems and the development of employability skills, through communication, leadership and time management. You will also have to take part in physical activities which will improve your fitness levels and life.

As part of the programme, you will conduct a one-week work placement in a Public Service environment. This will allow you to apply your theoretical knowledge in a practical work setting. Assignments will also be completed in relation to your work placement.

Entry requirements

You will need to have either a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 2 or above, including English and Maths or an Entry Level 3 qualification in English and Maths.


Internal progression onto Intermediate Policing and Uniform Services.

Fees and funding

This course is free for 16-18. The course fee for adults is £362 plus exam fee £105.
