Exploring Life Skills is a course for learners with special educational needs and disabilities such as behaviour emotional and social difficulties (BESD) Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), mild learning difficulties (MLD) and moderate learning difficulties (MLD) attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and opposition defiant disorder (ODD) who are working at pre-entry to Entry 1 who want to improve their independent living skills and personal social skills.

Course description

The core modules are:

  • Numeracy
  • Literacy
  • Personal, social and health education (PSHE)
  • Embedded soft employability skills

In addition to the core modules, students will have the opportunity to choose two optional modules that they are interested in, making it a personalised program. These optional modules include:

  • Accessing the community
  • Horticulture and Enterprise
  • Home Economics
  • Healthy living
  • Expressing self (Arts, Drama, Dance and Digital Creative arts)

During the interview, please highlight the modules you would like according to preference.

Entry requirements

An interview with our Transition officer is crucial to enrol on the course.


Upon completion one can move onto:

  • Social care
  • Endeavour – Entry Level 1/Entry Level 2
  • STEPS – Entry Level 2/Level 1
  • Supported internship (Grounds Maintenance)
