This sport course supports learners that are interested in a pathway to Sports, Fitness and Coaching. The study programme prepares learners for a range of skills in job roles related to sports coaching, fitness and the leisure sector.

Delivery consists of:

  • Sports Coaching
  • Technical Skills and Tactical Awareness for Sport
  • Working in the Sport and Active Leisure Sector
  • Sport and Active Leisure Project
  • Planning and Running a Sports or Active Leisure Event
  • Planning and Leading Sport or Active Leisure Activities

Course description

You will develop your skills in a range of sports lessons for example planning, leadership, instructing, assisting, coaching and participating in team and individual sport.

As part of the programme, you will conduct a two-week work placement in a Sport or Fitness environment. This will allow you to apply your theoretical knowledge to a practical work setting. Assignments will also be completed in relation to your work placement.

Entry requirements

You will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths or a Level 1 qualification in Sport (Merit minimum).


Internal progression through one of any of our Level 3 programmes.

Fees and funding

This course is free for students aged 16-18. The course fee for adults (19+) is £362 plus £105 exam fee TBC.
