Flexible working allows staff to change their patterns or total hours of working through discussions with their manager, subject to the exigencies of the service.
An independent Occupational Health service is available to support staff whilst they are at work, or to assist and support staff back into work after a period of illness or injury.
Newham College is a signatory to the Mindful Employer Charter, promoting equality and a supportive, positive environment for all employees and prospective employees who have mental health issues.
An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is available for all permanent members of staff via an independent provider. The confidential helpline is free to contact 24 hours a day and includes telephone counselling and advice services for a number of issues that can affect everyone at some time, including legal and financial concerns. Face-to-face counselling sessions can also be accessed free of charge through the EAP.
A confidential and independent Dyslexia Helpline is available to all staff who have been diagnosed with, believe they may have, or who manage those with, dyslexia. The helpline gives confidential advice on dyslexia as well as hints and tips on how to manage aspects of work affected by the condition. Assessments are available for permanent staff who believe they may have dyslexia or who need to be reassessed.
