Sports enrichment is a big part of College life and whatever your level, you are encouraged to take part in a wide range of recreational activities that will help you get fit, socialise, play in competitive sports, or simply have fun.
With a range of timetabled weekly sports on offer – from basketball to futsal, Yoga to Zumba – we have something to suit all tastes. And outside of our weekly timetable, we provide one-off opportunities to engage in non-mainstream activities such as zorbing, archery tag and nerf wars. All these activities are completely free of charge.
We have sports academies which provide you with the platform to showcase your talents and perform in regional and national competitions, including our former national championship-winning cricket academy, as well as competitive teams in the southern region National Futsal League, women’s futsal, volleyball, basketball, and disability football.
In partnership with Sport England, we provide bespoke offers that will not only engage inactive learners but also enhance your employability and familiarise you with future working environments.
Sports enrichment also provides opportunities to upskill and gain qualifications. We offer level 2 and 3 Sports Leader courses with the latter carrying valuable UCAS points ahead of your university applications. We have also previously provided opportunities to engage in one-day training courses such as safeguarding.
We encourage our students to become ambassadors within the AoC network including the This Girl Can and Inclusivity campaigns, and futsal.
Within these roles, there are plenty of opportunities for continuous personal development as well as having your say on the future delivery of sports and related activities within the college.
Supported by Sport England, our sports academies are designed to enhance your student experience and complement your studies. We have three specialist areas:
