Disability Support

The Disability Support team seeks to remove barriers to learning and plays an integral role in supporting students through their desired progression routes.

Newham College provides a supportive and inclusive environment which recognises difference and promotes achievement and progression for all.

What can we offer you?

Tutorial Support – A support tutor will be your key worker in college. They will provide you with study skills support, help with assignments and exam preparation. They will also work with anyone else who supports you to make sure your time at college is successful and that you progress into employment or further study.  

In Class Support –Support in your class with note-taking, reading, prompting, breaking down tasks and supporting you with alternative communication.

Assistive Technology –We provide laptops, iPads and dictaphones as well as supporting you to utilise your own technology to enable you to be more independent in your study.

Exam Concessions – Support can include: additional time; a scribe; a reader; rest breaks; a prompter; and paper based exams. Your needs will be assessed and appropriate concessions agreed.
