Course fees

Studying at college can be an expensive business. Let’s walk you through the options.

Studying at Newham College is a great investment in your future and we offer a wide variety of courses to meet your aspirations, whether you’re aiming to progress into employment, an apprenticeship or university.

How much you pay for your course fees and any additional costs depends on a number of factors, including your age, your course and your personal circumstances.

Age 16-18

If you are aged 16-18 at the beginning of your course and a UK/EU/EEA citizen or have resided in the UK/EU/EEA for at least three years prior to the start of your course, you won’t have to pay tuition fees.

However additional financial support is available for young people to support them whilst they study.

Adults (19+)

If you are aged 19 or older at the beginning of your course, whether you pay tuition fees or study for free will depend on your personal circumstances. Your fee status will be assessed by the Admissions team based on the information you have provided on your course application.

You may be eligible for fee reductions or funding to pay your fees and other course-related costs.

  • If you are aged 19-23, most of our Level 1 courses and below are free – subject to your immigration status, employment status and whether you are in receipt of benefits.
  • If you are aged 19-23, have resided in the UK/EU/EEA for at least three years prior to the start of your course and are applying for your first full Level 2 or 3 course, then you can study a Level 2 or 3 course (including the Access to Higher Education diploma) for free. After completion, any subsequent Level 2 or 3 courses will attract a tuition fee.
  • If you are interested in pursuing a Level 3 course or above and are aged 24+ or already hold a full Level 3 qualification, you will have to pay for your course either through self-funding or via a loan.

Registration and examination fees are payable in full at enrolment. Once enrolled, all fees are non-refundable unless the College decides to close the course.

Apprenticeships are free for the student but the employer may have to pay an apprenticeship levy.
