Route: Health and Science
Level: 2
Mode: Full Time
Duration: 1 year

This Transitional Programme is aimed at students looking to pursue a career in health, so you can join the heroes in the healthcare or science fields that are making a difference in people’s lives.

This programme is predominantly classroom/workshop-based rather than in the workplace and is designed to give you the practical skills and foundation you need to progress onto a Level 3 T Level Health or Healthcare science programme. It will equip you with the employability development needed to get you work-ready, so you can embark on your industry placement or directly into employment with confidence.

Other progression routes include a BTEC Level 3 in healthcare and social care, any alternative Level 3 in Science, or an apprenticeship.

What you will learn?

  • Study modules include Working within the Health and Science Sector, Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations in the Health and Science Sector, Health and Wellbeing, and Safeguarding
  • GCSE Maths and English, if you do not have a grade 4 or above
  • Employability skills such as customer care, customer relationship skills and presentation skills
  • Health & safety and first aid at work qualifications
  • Vendor-based qualifications to help you progress with your learner journey

Entry requirements

Students require at least a Level 1 qualification or a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 3/D, including at least one grade 4/C in English and Maths. A Science GCSE may also be beneficial but not essential.

T Levels and Transitional courses are coming to Newham College this September.
