Newham College Renovation Transforms Hospitality & Catering Course Facilities

A £340,000.00 renovation project at Newham College has transformed Hospitality & Catering course facilities at the East Ham Campus.

The renewed kitchen space has state-of-the-art equipment to provide students with an ultra-modern training environment, thanks to support from the Savoy Educational Trust.

We’re extremely pleased about the renovation. It means we can provide more of an employer-responsive curriculum. New equipment will ensure that students have the most innovative resources to meet the needs of the skills sector
The Executive Director - Estates & Operations at Newham College, Angela Mitten

The Hospitality and Catering department at Newham College works closely with employers to let students experience best practice within the modern workplace. In recent years students’ dishes have featured on the menu at Café Football, Stratford. Students have also had opportunities to work with head chefs at AA Rosette winning restaurants, in the Crowne Plaza City Branch hotel. Successful students have gained recognition in national cookery competitions such as Prep Cook Serve Potatoes in Oxfordshire.

Newham College Principal and Chief Exec Paul Stephens said:

“The new training facilities will really give our students a chance to work with excellent facilities before they start gaining experience within the modern sector. They will become familiar with equipment that is just as good as what they can look forward to working with as qualified professionals.”
