Making Newham College Covid-secure to welcome students back in September
Newham College is taking measures to ensure a Covid-secure environment for students and staff, as we prepare to welcome them back in September.
The wellbeing of our students and staff is of the utmost importance and as lockdown starts to ease, Newham College is taking all the necessary measures to ensure a Covid-secure environment for all who use our facilities, in line with government guidance.
Following weeks of preparation, stringent measures have been put in place so that the College can be as safe as possible from Covid-19. Social distancing signage and floor markings are now clearly visible throughout, hand sanitisers have been prominently placed at various points around the campuses and our canteen and reception areas have fully protective screens in place.
We have also introduced a one-way system throughout both campuses, reduced class sizes and staggered arrival and departure times for students, in an effort to minimise risks, maximise social distancing and ultimately protect the health and wellbeing of all staff and students.
Newham College may not be fully open yet, but we are looking in great shape to welcome students at the start of the academic year in September. Those choosing Newham College as a place to further their education will be encouraged to apply online, and if an interview is required, they will be asked to book a time slot online. Full details will be published on the website and emailed to students in due course.
In acknowledging the efforts of staff, Paul Stephen, Principal and CEO said, “I’d like to thank all the staff that have worked tirelessly to ensure we have all the necessary safety measures in place for when we fully re-open in September. We strongly believe that the Covid-19 pandemic should not prevent our students from continuing with their education and achieving their goals.
"We look forward to welcoming our students back to Newham College at the start of the academic year. We can't wait to get back to continue building on our tradition in supporting local people and their development, so they gain the skills and confidence needed to get fantastic careers.”
