Mental Health Awareness week

The 8th May marks the launch of Mental Health Awareness Week 2017 (MHAW), a nationally recognised campaign fronted by the Mental Health Foundation.

This years’ focus is ‘surviving to thriving’ and we will be celebrating the practical steps we can all take to stay healthy and happy.

Statistically, 1 in 3 of us will suffer with some kind of mental illness - together, we can change this. As part of MHAW, Newham College have launched their ‘How do I’ campaign which sets out to provide key information on how to look after our mental health.

Each day throughout the week we will be exploring what we can do as a College to support the shift from surviving to thriving with practical advice around sleep improvement, staying active, mindfulness, connecting with others and knowing where to get support.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the MQ Mental Health ‘Swear to Help’ campaign - a national pledge tackling mental illness.
