Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains Student of the Year Scheme

Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains were invited to speak to the College’s Engineering and Motor Vehicle learners about their Student of the Year scheme aimed at inspiring Engineers of the future.

Newham College welcomed six-time F1 Constructor Champions, Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains today at its Stratford Campus to speak to the College’s Engineering and Motor Vehicle Level 2 learners about an exciting new student initiative; the launch of the Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains Student of the Year scheme aimed at inspiring Engineers of the future.

The scheme allows the successful winner the chance of an invaluable week’s work experience at the Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains factory alongside multiple highly-successful and motivated F1 World Constructor Championship engineers and support staff at the factory in Brixworth, Northampton.

The winner will also receive a certificate at a presentation, £500 prize money and, most excitingly, direct entry onto Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains’ Apprenticeship Assessment Centre.

Lloyd Davis, Director of Newham College’s Maths, English and STEM curriculum, said “We are excited to see many enthusiastic learners attend the Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains presentation today. We want our learners to grasp this opportunity to win a life-changing weeks’ worth of work experience at the world’s leading vehicle manufacturer’s factory, where they can gain experience from the very best automotive engineers and experts”.
