Newham College Students Celebrate Results

Newham College students are celebrating excellent BTEC Level 3 results this year, as 75% achieved grades MMM or above. This is the equivalent of top A Level grades A*-C.

 25% of students who received their results on the 16th August, achieve the highest grades available of DDD or above. 

Diana Azanda, who studied BTEC Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3, achieved Distinction in each module of her course (D*D*D*) and will start a degree in Adult Nursing in September. 

The qualification will give me access to different opportunities. It has helped me to move towards reaching my goals and aspirations. The lecturers believed in me and have really supported me.
Diana Azanda BTEC Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3

Diana Azanda was the Student Union President for Newham College during the academic year 2017-2018. She worked closely with the college’s senior management team to initiate positive change. Diana has also worked for many years as a college ambassador. She has positively represented the college for a variety of academic and enrichment events.

Aroon Roberto Reinoso Rodas, completed a BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering with D*D*D* Distinction in each module. In June he was awarded at Newham College’s annual Shining Stars ceremony for accomplishing the College Achievement of the Year. He gained recognition for regularly attending college during his days off to focus on studying, assist his class mates, or work on his project to design a suspension bridge. Elliott Campbell, Aroon’s teacher says:

“Aroon was truly dedicated to his studies and the college”.

Mohammed Uddin, studied for a BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science and achieved DDD Distinction in every module of his course. He now plans to do a degree in biomedical science at Queen Mary University of London and says:

“The BTEC course helped me by covering topics that I need to study in biomedical science. I also made friends, developed team skills, improved my communication and learned interesting topics.”

Joel Bish , who studied BTEC Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, achieved D*D* D* Distinction in each module. She says:

"This course has helped me by providing me with skills such as communication and safeguarding. This has helped me develop both personally and professionally. I loved the environment and atmosphere created by both staff and students.

The course was very interesting and thought provoking. I also liked it because it has equipped me to work in a health and social care environment. Newham College is an excellent college, with exceptional teaching and opportunities which help students achieve their goals and become confident and intelligent individuals. I’m going to university to study Adult Nursing in September."
