Re-grading of BTEC results
BTEC results have been delayed as examination board reviews grades
Due to changes announced overnight by Pearson (the exam board responsible for BTEC qualifications) regarding the necessity to re-grade BTECs, Newham College will be unable to issue BTEC results to students until the issue has been resolved by Pearson, Ofqual (the qualifications, assessments and examinations regulator) and the Department for Education.
Following Ofqual’s announcement that A-level and GCSE students will receive teacher-assessed grades, Pearson has reviewed the impact on BTEC students and taken on board feedback from teachers, schools and colleges. Following that review and feedback, Pearson has decided to re-grade BTECs, in line with Ofqual’s decision to apply school-based assessments to GCSEs and A-levels.
Please be assured that no grades will go down, whilst there is the potential for grades to go up instead.
Results for Level 3 courses, including those with UCAS requirements, should be available from the college on Tuesday, 25 August while all other results will be available from Friday, 28 August.
Pearson are working urgently to reissue these results, are aware of the impact that this might have on BTEC students applying for university places and are working overtime to ensure that students are not further disadvantaged by this delay.
Newham College will continue to update this page when new information becomes available.
We appreciate your patience during these difficult circumstances which are unfortunately outside of our control.
