Newham College invests in technology and IT systems upgrade
Recent technology and IT systems upgrades are aimed at providing reliable internet access on campus and improving the remote learning environment for staff and students
Newham College has upgraded its technology and IT systems to give students and staff an improved working environment whether at home or on campus.
Since the first lockdown in March, the College has distributed 500 laptops to students without access to digital devices, enabling them to access online learning. With over half of these laptops given exclusively to our 16–18-year-old students, this ensures that they do not fall behind in their studies in these challenging times.
Both campuses have also been transformed with forty-four brand new Promethean smartboards. These purpose-built, interactive displays are among the best on the market and have been designed by teachers, for teachers. Students at Newham College will now benefit from a much improved and enhanced learning experience in the classroom.
We have also installed superfast Wi-Fi across both campuses, ensuring that students and staff benefit from reliable and secure internet access throughout the College. SIM cards have also been distributed to learners to enable them to access online learning materials and lessons via mobile networks, while staff now have access to free Photoshop and Active Inspire Software teaching tools.
Newham College has also agreed to an exclusive deal with The Stone Group, offering all staff and students 50% discount on Stone laptops and notebooks, with free next day laptop support for five years.
