Business Development Manager

Salary: £46,583 – £48,783
Location: Solar House – Stratford (Travel to other campuses will be required)
Contract: 6 Month FTC, 36 Hours per week

To engage with employers locally and nationally to promote the College’s employer offer, including apprenticeships, commercial courses, and other employer-related training programmes.
The post holder will take the lead on increasing apprenticeship starts by meeting monthly targets and KPIs in line with college financial objectives.
The post holder will also be responsible Learner recruitment, ensuring learners are placed with employers and on programmes after a robust pre-screening process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and adhere to college policies, mission, values and strategic objectives
- Take responsibility for own professional development ensuring full compliance of all internal and external training requirements
- Ensure the safeguarding of students and British Values, Citizenship and Environmental Sustainability & Development is understood and embedded within the role.
- Understand and comply with Safeguarding legislation, ensuring that this commitment is demonstrated in all aspects of the role as appropriate
- Further promote, develop and embed equality of opportunity, prevent discrimination and maximise the diversity of both staff and students.
- Ensure the Health and Safety policy and procedures are followed at all times and that good practice is embedded throughout all aspects of the role. Ensuring the required risk assessments and training is up to date.
- Participate in the college’s staff learning and development and annual appraisal requirements
- Collaborate with other areas of the College as required to ensure effective delivery of cross -College programmes and partners.
- Work with other support services to meet the needs of the college on specific projects/tasks outside of your main area of work.
- Ensure all data is handled in line with the General Data Protection Regulations
- Support College initiatives and aspirations to achieve Net Zero carbon
- Identify and develop new business within the College’s key sector areas (digital, health and life science, professional services and construction & engineering) through a variety of business development approaches, including sales calls, meetings, presentations, social media promotions, events, and networking
- Achieve monthly apprenticeship starts as outlined in the annual personal development review targets
Skills & Experience:
- Full Knowledge and understanding of apprenticeships and related funding and compliance
- Experience of coordinating administrative systems and processes
- A proven track record in business generation of apprenticeships, commercial and other funded projects with external employers
- Experience of meeting targets and KPI’s in a target driven environment
- Experience of managing own workload, diary management and working independently to tight schedules
- Working with, lightcast (EMSI) and other LMI platforms
- An understanding of the FE sector and the administrative demands required to ensure apprenticeship compliance
