Course content

This two-year qualification has been developed in consultation with employers in the industry to ensure that you will develop the core knowledge and practical skills needed to work in the education and early years sector in a range of occupations, including early years practitioner, teaching and support assistant and education technician.

The course will include core and specialist content, developing a general understanding of various topics including:

  • Supporting education
  • Safeguarding, health and safety and wellbeing
  • Working with others
  • Child development
  • Equality and diversity
  • Special educational needs and disability
  • English as an additional language

In addition to the core content, you will pursue a required occupational specialism in Early Years Educator.
You will complete 750 hours of industry placement within a real workplace setting and be able to apply the knowledge and skills that employers are looking for.
There will be a mixture of assignments, projects and exams.
